Some less-acknowledged differences (especially ones where both are correct but one is more common in American English and vice versa), like *toward* vs *towards*, will be ignored; you may use whichever you are accustomed to. However, for obvious differences, such as *color* vs *colour*, you should preferably use the American English equivalent.
 Do not censor profanity in quotes unless it was already censored.
