Language

Articles should be written in American English. Commonwealth English (such as British English or Australian English) will be tolerated, but it will likely be translated. Some less-acknowledged differences (especially ones where both are correct but one is more common in American English and vice versa), like *toward* vs *towards*, will be ignored; you may use whichever you are accustomed to. However, for obvious differences, such as *color* vs *colour*, you should preferably use the American English equivalent.

Do not censor profanity in quotes unless it was already censored, in which you should not uncensor it (you may specify what the censored words are afterward as long as you know them, if it may otherwise be unclear to the reader). Basically, don't change quotes, unless it's necessary to scrub private information, in which the Scrubbed template should appear in place of the removed content. If there are multiple lines (or it contains quotation marks and you wish to make it non-ambiguous), please put it on a separate line and in italics (don't replace the quotation marks with other characters).

If Garry were to write: "She's really fucking annoying":

In chat, he wrote: "She's really f***ing annoying"
In chat, he wrote: "She's really fucking annoying"

If Garry were to write something with quotation marks:

He wrote in chat: "She said, " why not?""
He wrote in chat: She said, "why not?"

Ideally, when referring to a specific person, either masculine or feminine pronouns should be used, but "they" is also fine if the person's gender is unknown or if they want to be referred to that way.

Sections

Sections should be formatted as headings. In the visual editor, you can press Ctrl+2 to make a heading. In the source editor, a section title should be formatted == Like this ==

A section should NEVER be positioned directly at the start of an article. An article should have some text before its sections.

When to use titlecase

Wikis typically don't use titlecase unless it's referring to a proper noun. For instance, in an article title or section title, something like "A Guide to Using the Product (referring to an instruction manual by its title) would be in titlecase because it's a proper noun, while "Instruction manual" (referring to instruction manuals in general) or "(Product) instruction manual" (referring to a specific instruction manual but not by name) wouldn't be. This wiki is not an exception.

When referring to the name of a work (not the name of a player or living or "living" thing like Garry), consider using the ProperTitle template at the beginning of the page to make the title render as italtics, if applicable.

Links

When linking to someone or something's page from a possessive, don't include the apostrophe in the link.
